What are the Best Eyeglasses for Your Face Shape?

What are the Best Eyeglasses for Your Face Shape? infographic

We can spend hours sitting in front of a mirror at the eyeglass store trying on every style of glasses they own… or we can read the What are the Best Eye Glasses for Your Face Shape? infographic from Zenni. Lets face it, our faces can’t pull off any look, so do yourself a favor and find the eyeglasses for your shape of face.

The general theme behind the infographic is to demonstrate that thought must be put into the frame design you’re planning on purchasing. By pairing your new frame design to the basic shape of your face, you’ll ensure that your eyeglasses are of a complimentary design - and help you look your best!

Eyeglasses are a fact of life for many of us. Beyond the benefit of clearer vision lies the ability to complement your facial features and overall look with eyeglass frames. In fact, there is some science behind selecting the appropriate frame that pairs nicely with the general shape of your face.

At Zenni Optical, we have constructed a simple way to determine which eyeglass frame will work best for you - all based on the basic shape of your face. Whether you have a “square face” that responds well to rounded or oval shaped frames in darker colors, or a “heart shaped” face that works well with oval or round shapes in lighter colors, you’ll be able to better choose the best eyeglasses for your face shape.

This is a great visual topic for an infographic!  If they had just tried to explain face shapes in text, it wouldn’t have worked at all.

A section on how to determine your own face shape would have been helpful.

Around the World in 80 Hats

Around the World in 80 Hats infographic

Around the World in 80 Hats infographic from Venere is a quick culture trip around the world with a little help from a fashionable article of clothing, hats.

All cultures of the world use the clothes they wear to define how they live, work, and respect their history. From the first world to the third world, hat styles especially have become important iconic markers of cultural dress. This infographic looks at 80 culturally significant hats from all corners of the earth, showing just how wonderfully diverse and interesting humanity can be.

A story like this depends on the visuals.  You have to see the hats to understand the history and connection to each country.  The footer should include the URL to the infographic landing page in text so readers can find the original when other sites post the infographic without the link.

Evening Etiquette: A Gentleman's Guide

Evening Etiquette: A Gentleman's Guide infographic

Gentleman is not just a title, it is a way of life. The Evening Etiquette: A Gentleman’s Guide infographic created by Boisdale explains the finer points to being a Gentleman. The infographic shares tips on how to look the part, what to wear, and dinner advice.  A great follow-up to the last post about matching ties.

Being a gentleman is more than opening the door for the ladies. For men to truly live up to this title, they must look and act the part in all areas of life -  from grooming, style and culture to knowledge of food and booze and the proper treatment of women.  Making these gestures a natural part of one’s behaviour is how a true gent stands out from the boys.

In order to help lads mature into men of virtue, Boisdale has created an evening etiquette guide. From knowing one’s tweed and collars to the proper table setting and whiskey protocol, this infographic will turn those willing into a man ladies want and other men aspire to be.

Another great visual explanation, that shows the reader the information with illustrations and images instead of spelling out the information with too much text.

The Visual History of Swimwear

The History of Swimwear Swimsuits infographic by Backyard Ocean

The History of Swimwear infographic is a visual timeline from Backyard Ocean that shows the evolution of the swimsuit over the last 150 years.

The swimsuit: a symbol of stylish summer fun. Parade it on the beach or in the privacy of your above ground pool at home. Swimwear’s history has grown from cavemen furs to science fiction fancies. Artsy, classy, conservative or sexy, the swimsuit is an icon of summer style and fashion. Backyard Ocean takes a breath from swimming to see just how the swimsuit has changed through time. The History of Swimwear Swimsuits infographic by Backyard Ocean

This is a design by Jeremy Yingling with InfoNewt (my company).  Each model on the timeline has an illustration showing off the fashions, and represents either a new suit design or a famous example from TV & movies.  My favorite part is the associated pie chart visualizing the amount of skin coverage for each swimsuit (or lack thereof).

The design also plots the amount of skin coverage over time, the evolution of the “thong” and how skin exposure does not automatically equate to higher sex appeal.
